The Bamburgh Research Project represents a vehicle for the study of both the castle site ands its surrounding landscape
revealing layers representing more than 2000 years of continuous occupation. At the present time the project has concentrated on the fortress site and the early medieval burial ground at the 'Bowl Hole' to the south of the castle.
More recently the Project have run a community based survey project, in conjunction with the Local Heritage initiative, based on the present village.
